Acute and Chronic Pain
Millions of Americans suffer various forms of acute and chronic pain. If left untreated, this pain can last for months or even years. No matter if your pain was caused by an injury, repetitive use, joint degeneration or a pinched nerve, acupuncture can help.
Allergies
Seasonal allergies are caused by an overreaction of the body’s immune system to allergens, such as pollen, in the air. Over 20 million adults and over 6 million children suffer from seasonal allergies each year. Researchers predict these numbers will rise as climate change continues to increase the number of high pollen count weeks per year. Seasonal allergy symptoms include runny nose, itchy eyes, cough, sinus congestion, brain fog, fatigue, and headache. Sometimes these symptoms can worsen and develop into asthma.

Autoimmune disorders occur when our immune system mistakenly identifies a part of our body as harmful and attacks that tissue.

The majority of neurologic problems are caused by damage to tissue in the nervous system. When our body does not heal damaged nervous tissue, there is nothing to stimulate healing in Western Medicine.

Recent medical research indicates that many psychiatric problems are caused by unresolved inflammation in different parts of our brain.

In Western Medicine, treatments for sprains and strains are limited to rest, immobilization, and physical therapy. Acupuncture can accelerate the healing of traumatized tissue for faster and more complete healing.
Women’s Issues
Recent medical research suggests that infertility and miscarriages are caused by the mother’s overactive immune system. The genetics that make up the embryo are half from the mother and half from the father. When the mother’s immune system rejects the father’s genetic material, the rejection inhibits implantation of the embryo or causes miscarriage after implantation. Calming down the mother’s overactive immune system with acupuncture can increase the chance of successful implantation and reduce the chance of miscarriage.

He underwent post-graduate training at St Luke’s Hospital and Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He has been practicing family medicine since 1973.
Dr. Ahn has studied acupuncture in Korea and the United States and has practiced acupuncture, along with family medicine, since 1982. He is a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. He opened the third Ahn Clinic, December 19th, 2011, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Dr. Peter completed his medical acupuncture coursework through the Stanford School of Medicine and continues his acupuncture education with his father, Dr. Yang Ahn. He practices family medicine at MercyCare Blairs Ferry and medical acupuncture at Ahn Clinic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
